What is the 'Slippery Slope' fallacy?

Claiming that a small first step will inevitably lead to a chain of related (usually negative) events without proof. Example: 'If we allow this minor change in liturgy, the whole church will be heretical in a year.'
Explanation
This fallacy fails to acknowledge that there are 'brakes' or logical stopping points between the first step and the ultimate disaster.
